Before COVID, you could sit down with someone who held an entirely different view, hear each other out, and walk away either having learned something new or simply agreeing to disagree. Both were acceptable outcomes. Neither required anyone to be destroyed.
That now seems impossible.
What changed?
COVID accelerated something but it did not create it. The intolerance, the mob mentality, the refusal to even consider another perspective. That was already there, waiting.
It just needed the right moment to take over.
We lost something important. The ability to think together, even when we don’t think alike.
And most people haven’t even stopped to notice.
And this is phrased very politely.
